• Discussed issues of copyright in relation to microfilm of dissertations. Because they are manuscripts, copyright is life + 70. They're not comfortable with these being available as part of the OCA, because they're unpublished. Manuscripts prior to 1887 are public domain. We would have to get formal permission to digitize dissertations.
• There are currently aprox. 150 OCA catalog links in OCLC and there should be around 1000 by the end of the month.
• Within 2 weeks Browse by Collection will be available in Illinois Harvest.
• Michael will do an announcement soon by email.
• Betsy will get a spot for Michael and Tim C. in the Sept. faculty meeting.
• Tim D. can provide Michael with a dump of OCLC #, author, title, publisher, etc. in tab separated format.
• Records are already showing up in WorldCat
• Discussion of how to promote to staff: division meetings? Workshops through staff training committee in the Spring? Add to GA training?
• We are currently linking to just our copy, not OCA's
• Bill said we need to get all of our books moved into Microsoft Live Books so that Gateway can search them.
• Discussion about storage:
  • We are not currently paying the Internet Archive for storage
  • It's up to us to store our own copies
  • Want to find out what other libraries are doing
  • Will be talking to CITES about storage plans and cost estimates
  • Will Google shared dig. repos. be able to be used to store content from other sources?
  • CIC directors will meet to discuss the shared repos., but we'll need an interim solution for at least the next 2 years.
  • A lot of storage was purchased last year, so money wasn't added to the budget for storage for this year, because we still have free space available.
  • Candace will get an estimate from Dan of how much has been scanned so far
• A second shift of OCA scanning will be starting soon
• Phase One will be extended through at least May
• Unrestricted money will be spent by July 2008
• Carli is funding one scanner for an OCA pilot project
• The Biodiversity Heritage Project might fund part of one scanner for their own use
